What to See and Do in Cancun
by Aria Solorada
It's easy to see why Cancun is one of the most beloved
vacation spots in the world. It boasts a terrific, sunny
climate, a fun-filled atmosphere, friendly people, good
food and a plethora of outdoor activities. Consider this
lively place as a destination for your next vacation.
Experience Cancun by boat when you take a water tour at
Aquaworld. Whether you~re interested in fishing, a sunset
dinner cruise, a jungle tour or snorkeling, there~s a world
of fun that~s available to adults and children alike.
Aquaworld even offers special accommodations for children
between the ages of 8 and 11. Their Bubblemaker Program
allows kids to hone their ability to breathe underwater
through the use of a pool.
If the exotic allure of bullfighting has captured your
interest, venture over to the Plaza de Toros, which is
listed in the Guinness Book of World Records for its
fights. Here, tourists can observe authentic bullfights,
which take place every week throughout the entire year.
Before the fights get started, guests are treated to
folkdances and lively music.
If you like theme parks, visit Xcaret, an eco-archeological
park that features rides as well as natural wonders. You
can wander through the jungle paths, observe the wild
animals, snorkel in water-filled limestone tunnels or
take a look at the world-famous Mayan ruins. Of course,
there's also terrific park rides! No matter what you're
in the mood for, you'll find something fun to do.
For those of you who are serious divers, don't miss Cozumel,
a hot spot for divers who come from all over the world to
jump into the famous waters. Over 6,000 scuba tanks are used
here each day! Cozumel is only 12 miles off Cancun's coast,
making it a quick and convenient jaunt from shore. With
visibility of up to 200 feet and dozens of dive sites, it's
well worth checking out. When you're ready to dry off, walk
along the beaches, explore the gardens, walk among the ruins
or go to a museum. After the sun goes down, Cancun's world-
famous nightclubs are the place to be.
These and many other sites make Cancun a marvelous vacation
choice for those who love the great outdoors. While
swimming, snorkeling and scuba diving are emphasized in
many of the Cancun locations, don~t despair if you~re
inexperienced in these areas. There are plenty of classes
and instructional seminars that are offered to tourists in
all areas of water adventure.
